The 5th Edition of the East Africa Finance Summit (EAFS) was held on May 11, 2022, at UN-ECA with the theme of Reshaping the Future of Finance Sector in the Age of Disruption. Considering the summit was held after 2 years of postponement due to COVID-19, it had a big engagement with more than 450 keen participants primarily from the financial sector Participants from the Ministry of Finance and National Bank of Ethiopia were also in attendance and they presented the existing and trending regulatory issues in the financial sector which makes the summit valuable and impactful.
Proceedings of the Summit
Opening Session
The welcoming speech was delivered by Gemechu Waktola (PhD), CEO of the i-Capital Africa Institute. Introductory Remarks were given by representatives of the summit co-organizers; Kenenisa Lemi, Jimma University; Yared Molla, Association of Ethiopian Insurers and Yodit Kassa, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). The summit was, then, officially opened by H.E. Ahmed Shide, Ministry of Finance.

Session One
Presentation
The first session focused on policy, regulation and governance of the Finance Sector. Presentations were made by actors and experts; Adrak Mustafina, Yared Hailemeskel, Richard Ketley, Fikru Tsegaye and Neteru Wondwosen.
Session One Panel Discussion
The panel discussion of the first session also discussed policy, regulation and governance of the Finance Sector. The discussion was moderated by Zemedeneh Nigatu; the panelists were Belay Tulu, Yared Mola, Frezer Ayalew, Melaku Kebede and Zafu Eyesuswork
Session Two
Presentation
The Banks, MFI, Fintech, Telco Track of the second session focused on Digitization, Inclusion, Innovation, and Access to Finance. Presentations were made by actors and experts; Jackson Nthiga, Abrhame Endrias, Munir Duri, Yodahe Zemichael and Sintayehu Zekarias.
Panel Discussion
The panel discussion also addressed the topic of Digitization, Inclusion, Innovation, and Access to Finance. The discussion was moderated by Munir Duri; the panelists were Melika Bedri, Abdu Seid (PhD), Bewketu Tafere, Taye Girma (PhD) and Zemedeneh Nigatu.

The Insurance and InsurTech Track of the second session focused on Digitization, Inclusion, Innovation, and Access to Finance. Presentations were made by actors and experts; Yinebeb Derseh, Yared Mola, Solomon Zegeye and Hirut Tequame.
Panel Discussion
The panel discussion also addressed the topic of Digitization, Inclusion, Innovation, and Access to Finance. The discussion was moderated by Meseret Bezabih; the panelists were Dagnachew Mehari, Tewodros Tilahun, Tsegaye Kemsi, and Zafu Eyesuswork.
